Confirmed: Marijuana is an Effective and Safe Treatment for Pain

Raphael Mechoulam, an organic chemist and professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, has found evidence that points to cannabis aiding in pain treatment. This comes at a time where the US Senate announced that they’ll be allowing veterans to access to medical marijuana. Not only do vets swear by its effectiveness, but also others nationwide that already medicate for pain-related issues. More extensive clinical trials will need to move forward to discover additional knowledge and pinpoint various applications suited for cannabis.

Another researcher from Canada, Mary E. Lynch, noted that over 80% of clinical trials have provided evidence pointing at cannabinoids as a form of pain relief. With the rampant abuse of prescription pain medicines this is an important finding, as there is a need to address pain-related issues with drugs that do not include the addictive properties of opiates.

More from Science Journal:

More and more physicians and pharmacologists are jumping on the band wagon for additional clinical research when it comes to using cannabis on a medical level. Many professionals find such treatment provides a large number of benefits within very minimal risk.
