With the 2016 Summer Olympics all wrapped up, there’s now a gaping, Rio-shaped hole in our hearts that can only be filled with unparalleled athletic prowess. Well… and weed. Weed always helps.
In fact, the close relationship between athletes and cannabis cannot be denied, with sports stars proving over and over again that pot can help with endurance and performance—not to mention post-training recovery.
For years, experts have been urging the NFL to support research into the neuro-protective potential of marijuana to alleviate traumatic brain injury (TBI) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), and in May, Baltimore Ravens’ Eugene Monroe donated $80,000 to medical marijuana research—spurring league doctors to finally express an interest in the healing properties of cannabis.
Of course, our favorite herb isn’t just for football players. Current and former athletes across all sports have been openly discussing their marijuana use recently (and even starting cannabis-based businesses!), and if Michael Phelps memes have taught us anything, it’s that “Winners don’t smoke weed. Champions do!”
With that in mind, we want to know—Which of the following pot-smoking athletes is your favorite?
Obviously, there are a lot of pothead jocks out there, and we couldn’t list them all. So, if you don’t see your fave, don’t panic! Comment below with the stoner athlete you’d choose.
