Stoner Sex: Cannabis Compatibility, B&D, Pot on the Rez & Romantic Porn

Dear Hyapatia,
I’m in a new relationship with a wonderful man who smokes pot. I’ve never really been a smoker, although I have tried it a few times. I really like being in a relationship with a regular pot smoker. When we have a disagreement, we sit down, get high and talk it out. We’re able to express how we feel and see each others’ points. We can find a compromise that we can both live with. In the past, disagreements have led to heated arguments, angry looks, the silent treatment and moodiness. If I’d known all of that could be avoided by dating a pot smoker, I would have made sure to go out with guys who got high long ago. – Dawn

Dear Dawn,
I’m so glad that things are working out for you in your new relationship. While not all guys who use cannabis are as mature as your man seems to be when it comes to disagreements, it’s true that cannabis can help us calm down, take the intensity out of the situation and be open to other points of view. When we take the time to inhale deeply, hold our toke and then slowly exhale, it also forces us to take a moment and think about what’s been said before we offer our response. Sometimes it’s easy to get into the habit of planning what we’re going to say before we’ve really thought about what the other person is trying to express. It might be a good idea for our political leaders to get high on some good weed.

Dear Hyapatia,
My girlfriend and I are trying to liven things up in the bedroom and she wants to try some B&D. I’m fine with that, but I really don’t know what to say or do. It’s just not in my nature to be dominant. I’ve tied her up, but I don’t know what to do other than have sex with her, and it’s just not fulfilling for her to just lie there and not participate. It just doesn’t work, if you know what I mean. – Bob

Dear Bob,
B&D is not for everyone. Some people love it, others experiment with it, and there are those who just aren’t into it at all. Your girlfriend will have to understand that this is not your thing. Let it go. Together you can try role-playing, dressing up, sex in different places, massages and oils, incense and candles, watching sexy movies and a host of other things to spice up your love life. I like to experiment with different strains of weed, methods of ingestion, as well as other substances, when engaging in sex. It’s always been one of favorite pastimes.

Dear Hyapatia,
I’ve been reading that Native American tribes are now getting the right to grow cannabis on their reservations. Is this new to Native culture? Do you think it will have the same affect that alcohol has had? – Arthur

Dear Arthur,
Cannabis has been used by Native peoples for centuries. I doubt very much that cannabis would have the same effects as alcohol. Number one, cannabis isn’t dangerous like alcohol. It’s not addictive, doesn’t cause liver damage or other physical problems, and you can’t overdose. Naturally, I don’t think it should have ever been made illegal.

When it comes to Native sovereignty, there’s another dimension to consider. Reservations were supposed to be places where tribes could govern themselves. Why does the US government have the authority to make cannabis illegal on reservations in the first place? I do hope cannabis will bring commerce to impoverished tribes, thereby improving lives and helping those who need it medically.

Dear Hyapatia,
I like to be easy to get along with. I don’t like to make waves or complain about things that don’t really matter much. When my guy and I want to have fun, we get a sitter for the kids, score some dank weed, and make a night of it. We’ve been watching some adult movies to enhance our sex life. Lately, I’ve seen some pretty disturbing scenes. A woman being choked by a guy’s dick to the point of almost puking is not a turn-on for me. It’s offensive and I don’t like it. My man still likes to watch porn, though. How can we find stuff that isn’t so rough? – Mandy

Dear Mandy,
Look for couples movies by older companies. Anything written by Raven Touchstone will have a good plot and women will not be abused in the script. You can also Google “romantic sex videos” or “porn for women.” You might want to read some reviews and remember the performers you like best to search them out.
The adult movies we made back in the ’80s and ’90s were more loving, with story lines that involved people who enjoyed sex and each other. For the most part, the sex was exciting for everyone involved. There are still movies like that out there!
