This seems to me to be a poorly researched article, surprising coming from a “Science Editor.” True scientists thrive on research. Michael Pollan brilliantly describes everything wrong with your statement of “it’s a shame the artist didn’t get capture the plant during full flowering” in his book Botany of Desire. It’s a matter of evolution, sweetie.
